If you are looking for a one-day hike, you can consider taking a 1-day Kilimanjaro Trek to Mandara Hut via the Marangu Route which is A-shaped. This gives you the chance to trek to the first stage of the legendary Marangu Route, through a rainforest teeming with wildlife and chattering, curious blue monkeys. The Marangu Route is the easiest ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, although any ascent can be challenging. The distance of the Marangu route is approximately 82 km or 50 miles.

Day: 3

Marangu Gate (1,800 m) – Mandara Hut (2,800 m ) Hiking/Ascent time: 4 – 5 hours Habitat: Montane forest Leave Moshi town at about 08:00 a.m. and drive about 45 minutes to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. Do the necessary paperwork at the park gate such as registrations. Begin hiking at about 10:00 a.m. Hike through the rain forest from the park gate (1,800 m) to Mandara Hut (2,800 m), taking about 4 – 5 hours. Stop halfway for lunch. Reach Mandara Huts at about 02.00 p.m. After a short tour at the hut start coming down to Marangu gate and you may reach the gate around 04:45 pm. A side trip to Maundi Crater (about 15 minutes away) is a good way to see the surroundings as well as views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania. Return to Moshi and will arrive in the late evening around 06:45 pm, overnight at Kilimanjaro Resort. Horombo, descend to Marangu Gate, Transfer to Moshi / Arusha you may reach the gate around 04:45 pm. A side trip to Maundi Crater (about 15 minutes away) is a good way to see the surroundings as well as views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania. Return to Moshi and will arrive in the late evening around 06:45 pm, overnight at Kilimanjaro Resort.
